We're sorry, this position has expired. We're sure there are other opportunities for you to volunteer your time!

About the Program
The Bruyere St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa has asked members of the community to donate knitted comfort blankets as their facility is running low.

These blankets are needed especially during this time to provide comfort to patients in palliative care who are unable to see their family or have visitors.

For more information on this initiative, listen to this recent CBC interview.
About the Role
Knitting blankets is a simple activity that is easy to do while watching TV. It is also a great opportunity to learn to knit or to teach your children how to knit.

You will need:
- 3 x 10.5 oz balls of Bernat wool (baby blanket, blanket, or blanket brights)
- 1 long pair of size 10 US/6.00 mm needles

Instructions:
- Cast on 80 stitches
- Knit each row until all 3 balls are used
- Cast off 80 stitches
- Sew in loose ends

The finished blanket should be ~ 90 cm x 150 cm.

Don't worry if you end up with more or fewer stitches. Your blanket will still be warm and appreciated!
