About the Program
The Ismaili Youth Club (IYC) mandate is to enhance the unity and quality of life of high school participants. Through events, activities and opportunities for youth to meaningfully connect, IYC will provide a space for learning and engagement both within the Ismaili community and externally. 

IYC will provide you with a unique and exciting experience to develop your leadership skills and bring a youth voice to program planning and development.  IYC will give you the opportunity to undergo leadership development training, mentorships and create a strong foundation upon which you can build your skills and competencies.

About the Role
Chair (10-12 hours/month): 
  • Develop key goals and objectives for the team
  • Act as primary liaison between YSB (IYC Advisor) and the rest of IYC in communicating team updates 
  • Plan and facilitate IYC meetings
  • Keep up ongoing communication with IYC to ensure all team members understand their tasks and responsibilities
  • Reinforce accountability within the IYC team, and be a visible and accessible source of support to team members 
  • Attend all IYC meetings
Vice Chair (10-12 hours/month): 
  • Assist Chair in their duties and facilitate meetings in the absence of the Chair
  • Regularly communicate with team members and provide support as necessary
  • Record and share meeting minutes
  • Monitor IYC funds and ensure all events or activities are within budget
  • Work with Events leads to assist in planning and logistical needs 
  • Fill any gaps in JK representation on the team and ensure events/activities work well for all members of the Edmonton Ismaili High School population
  • Attend all IYC meetings
Marketing Lead (7-10 hours/month): 
  • Use creative tools to provide quality communication between IYC and Ismaili high school students 
  • Create and maintain email distribution lists 
  • Promote and market events through formal methods (social media, emails, JK/Al-Akhbar announcements, etc.) and informal methods (word of mouth, etc.)
  • Work with IYC Advisor and IYC members to implement marketing plans
  • Attend all IYC meetings
Events Lead- 2 members  (7-10 hours/month):
  • Complete and execute a program plan for each event in collaboration with the IYC team
  • Submit a pre-program plan and post-program plan within specified time frame to IYC Advisor
  • Create, update and document evaluations for each event
  • Collaboration with IVC, AV, facility team and any other relevant bodies for each event
  • Coordinate with various teams to ensure all logistics are taken care of for events (food/drinks, setup/cleanup, etc.)
  • Attend all IYC meetings 
IVC Youth Team Lead Liaison - open to current Youth Team Leads  (7-10 hours/month):
  • Ensure communication and collaboration with IVC and Youth Team Leads
  • Work with Events Lead to identify any needs for setup/cleanup/food, etc. for Jamatkhana events
  • Obtain support from additional IVC Youth Team Leads as required
  • Provide updates to IVC and Youth Team Leads on IYC initiatives
  • Promote IYC events to students in the Jamat
  • Work with IYC to plan and deliver programming
  • Attend all IYC meetings
Student MK Liaison - open to current Student MK's  (7-10 hours/month):
  • Ensure communication and collaboration with Student and Jamati MKs
  • Provide updates to Student MKs on IYC initiatives and provide updates to IYC on Student MK initiatives as necessary
  • Promote IYC events to students in the Jamat
  • Work with IYC to plan and deliver programming
  • Attend all IYC meetings

About You
We are looking for highly motivated high school students who are looking to make a difference in the youth of our jamat. 
  • The applicant should be an Edmonton region resident enrolled in high school 
  • Past experiences within the Ismaili or external community involvement are an asset, but not required 
  • Willing to work within a team and independently
  • Looking to build strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and project management skills
