About the Program
**NOTE: In-person events are currently not taking place. We are recruiting Event Managers who will be trained in preparation for the eventual re-opening of the Centre, Insha'Allah, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.**

The Ismaili Centre, Toronto carries out a diverse range of high-profile events that stimulate the intellect, encourage dialogue, and celebrate cultural diversity. Our events feature world-renowned speakers, writers, artists, dignitaries, and academics.

Events include:
  • Lectures and panel discussions on emerging health issues, scientific achievements, art and culture, among others. 
  • Roundtable policy forums 
  • International AKDN exhibitions 
  • Workshops and reading groups
Audiences include the general public as well as members from the diplomatic community, academia,
finance, media, the Ummah and other faith-based communities.
About the Role
  • As an Event Manager, you'll oversee an event from start to finish with the goal of ensuring guests have a phenomenal experience. 
  • Once in-person events resume, you'll serve as the overall lead for the event and work closely with a variety of service delivery teams (Catering, A/V, Registration, Setup and others).
  • The Event Manager ensures that events are completed in accordance with health & safety guidelines and Ismaili Centre, Toronto policies.
  • Number of events assigned is flexible based on your capacity.
About You
  • Hospitality and event management professional committed to excellent guest service
  • Experience in guest relations - i.e. hotels/tourism, wedding planning, conferences, etc.
  • Collaborative nature with the ability to manage change in a positive manner
  • Excellent communicator, both spoken & written
  • Strong relationship and people management skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively identify risks and issues, and provide required solutions
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Resume or LinkedIn profile required
Time Commitment
  • 4 hours/week
  • Starting immediately to 31 December 2020
