About the Program
The Aga Khan Education Board is seeking Teacher/Tutors for our Enhanced Learning Centre (ELC) and Advanced Learning Centre (ALC) at all centres (Durham, East York, Etobicoke, Guelph, Kitchener, Meadowvale, Willowdale, and Richmond Hill). 

ELCs are for students in Grades 1-6 who are performing at a B- or below. ELCs are typically held 1-3x/week during the school year.   

ALCs are for students in Grades 1-6 who are achieving Provincial standard (Level 3 or higher (B or higher)).  ALCs are typically held 1x/week during the school year.
About the Role
  •  Increase students' numeracy/literacy knowledge 
  • Create lesson plans with support from tutors 
  • Implement activities/lessons based on student assessments  
  • Provide 2 progress reports (December and June) 
  • Ensure any costs incurred through activity planning are submitted to the managers and Member for Academic Enhancement
  • Assist teachers in carrying out activities/lessons 
  • Work one-on-one with special case students (for example, special needs or students who are below academic grade level or disability) 
  • Review student work through workbooks and areas of difficulty                                                              
Centres and Timings: 
  •  All ELC's and ALC's are online and have various days and times.

  • Demonstrated skill in leading teams, team building, effective problem solving and facilitating productive outcomes
  • Maturity, reliability, flexibility, professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience and skill in working with school-aged children and their families
Time Commitment
  • 4 hours/week
  • 7 September 2020 to 21 June 2021
