About the Program
The National New Arrivals Lead aims to support the regional Newcomer Support teams by implementation and execution of best practices. It includes spearheading the new arrival process (including monitoring and execution of the New Arrivals Card and Family Plan Questionnaire), updating the Settlement Manual and coordinating support to local Newcomer Support teams in helping to meet the essential needs of the newly arrived Jamati members.

About the Role
•     Demonstrate leadership by building and leading a team of volunteers Nationally to assist in the settlement and development phases
•     Implement the newcomer arrival program and coordinate delivery of new arrival orientation sessions
•     Support the implementation, completion, and submission of the New Arrival Cards
•     Assist with documentation and the tracking process to capture newcomer arrival information / Family Plan Questionnaire
•     Serve as a point of contact for Regional Newcomer Leads and act as a liaison for the National team
•     Be able to work collaboratively within the National team and with other boards and portfolios
•     Ensure new arrivals are welcomed at the airport and registered with Settlement Portfolio upon entry into the country
•     Maintain privacy and confidentiality throughout engagement with Murids

About You
•     Experience with newcomers, Settlement Portfolio and/or Quality of Life (QOL) 
•     Knowledge of the various Jamati institutions and their mandates considered an asset
•     Strong written and verbal communication skills with competency in Farsi and/or Urdu a strong asset
•     Excellent communication, organization and coordination skills.
•     Collaboration and basic event planning skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft office suite (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
•     Cultural sensitivity and awareness of  issues newcomers to Canada face in integration in economic, social, education, and cultural aspects of Canadian life
•     Ability to work with other Council representatives with tact, diplomacy and humility
•     Ability to assist with job searches, developing targeted resumes and cover letters and networking

Time Commitment
  • 6 hours/week
  • On-going position starting immediately
