About the Program
Journeys~Safarha is an online English language student program for Ismaili youth ages 15 to 17 years old living in Kabul, Afghanistan. This program aims to improve students’ English reading, writing and speaking skills, while connecting students with Coaches from different areas of the world virtually using the English language.

Journeys~Safarha will leverage digital technology and seek to:

  • Inspire students to improve their conversational and written communication in English
  • Motivate youth to understand the importance and benefits of learning English
  • Foster connections and friendship among participants
The goal of Journeys~Safarha is to encourage participants to continue with their English learning journey, while improving their digital literacy and independent learning skills through virtual monthly sessions and weekly online lesson plans from Spring to Fall 2021. Program participants will be guided and mentored in small teams by their assigned Coaches to develop critical thinking and presentation skills as they work together to build a team project.

About the Role
Under the direction and guidance of the Journeys~Safarha Marketing Lead, Graphic Design Specialists are primarily responsible for working with the program’s Organizing Team and student team Coaches to:
  • Create monthly short videos displaying highlights of the week
  • Design video content to introduce monthly celebrity speakers
  • Support Coaches with producing student team video projects
  • Design content material for use in print and on screen
  • Create templates for program materials
Training (date to be determined) and ongoing support with be provided.
About You
Graphic Design Specialists must demonstrate the following qualifications:
  • Excellent written English with the ability to communicate online
  • Experience with video recording creation, production and editing
  • Knowledge and experience with graphic and poster design within tight deadlines
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or related software to create presentations
  • Strong social media skills
  • Highly organized and self-motivated

  • 4 hours/week
