About the Program
Under the guidance of Mawlana Hazar Imam and in collaboration with other Jamati Institutions, the Aga Khan Education Board for Canada improves quality of life and human development through education, with a deliberate focus on serving the vulnerable.
About the Role
- Reports directly to the Board Chairman to oversee HR planning and ensures that it is people-focused and not process focused.
- Support Board members to fulfill recruitment and deployment of volunteers for programs and events by providing strategy and tactics (supported by DVRM).
- Maintains internal database of volunteers for the Board.
- Provides guidance to and support the Board Chairman on developing and building capacity with their volunteers.
- Maintains a communication strategy (i.e. meetings, phone, email) with the Team.
- Develops orientations packages for the board members, supports onboarding, volunteer screening, supports appointment process, supports delivery of core training, management of volunteers within the team and off boarding.

About You
- Must have or willing to learn the policies pertaining to Volunteer Life Cycle including recruitment, screening, orientation, training & development and off-boarding including database use for OTS, VMS and TKN.
- Effective leadership, communication and time-management skills.
- Very good interpersonal skills to deal with various levels of Volunteers, Jamat and Leadership.
- Demonstrates high level of discretion, transparency, sensitivity, and compassion in dealing with Volunteers and murids.
- Ability to organize, multi-task and to work well under pressure with agility under tight deadlines.
- Ability to remain calm and adapt to last minute changes.
- Ideally based in Council for Ottawa jurisdiction (Ottawa, Gatineau, Kingston or adjacent areas) as some meetings may require in-person attendance in Ottawa Headquarters Jamatkhana once prevailing COVID restrictions are over.
